FIJI

We've saved the very best to last... Our stay at the Tokoriki Island Resort was the highlight of our trip!

Our ride to our final destination
Tokoriki Island

Our time in Fiji was coming to an end which was a bit sad... luckily we had decided to have a real luxurious end to our trip and we found our next island thanks to recommendations from some of our friends that have been there previously and loved it.

And yes, it was really really good! We loved every moment we spent there... The staff here, were if possible, even friendlier than previously (and that's a tough call), they had an infinity pool that was just like a dream and don't get us started on the food... Five star meals every single day!!

Oh yes... and we also had a great outdoor shower which we ended up using every single time... (it was just so much nicer than the indoor one).

"King of the world" moment

One of the few things that we wanted to do on this island (besides lying by the pool) was to visit Monuriki island where the movie Cast Away was filmed.

Unfourtunately it turns out that they only do two tours per week to the island... One was on the morning when we arrived (which we missed) and the next one would be the day after we left... We talked to them and they advised that if we could get 4 people together we could still do this trip. So we got talking to another couple who had arrived on the island at the same time as us (Andrew and Leanne) and they were also keen on coming along.

So, with our island trip booked we also decided to do an island church visit on the Sunday we were there...

The church visit didn't happen though as for some reason there wasn't any service on that very Sunday... shame but no big deal.

The next morning before going to Monoriki island I decided to go for another dive to see if this would be any better.... and was it ever!!

I did a dive at a dive site called "Sherwood Forest", named so for all the fan coral that can be found everywhere. This was a great spot to dive, there were so many different types of corals, soft and hard, I also discovered a lot of different fishes, eels, shrimps, nudibranches etc. etc.

The fact that there were only 2 of us and the divemaster made the dive even better... the smaller the group the better!

How good is that pool...
We really liked it ;)

Later that afternoon the 4 of us headed over to Monoriki island where we were given a full tour of the island by someone who claimed to have been there during filming. We were not sure if that was true or not but no matter what, we got to see the different spots of the island.

The weather that afternoon was overcast but the views of the water and island were still great... Before we left the island we were also given the opportunity to snorkel around the island. And even though the snorkling was a bit disapointing after that mornings dive we still enjoyed it!

On our last evening in Tokoriki we had a great dinner down by the water on our own private table... and even though we were so far away the serenading boys still found us and played some songs for us...

What made this place so great were not big massive things but rather small great ones... One of them were the serenading, every night the boys came over to your table and sang to you. Another things were all the people here, they came up and talked and joked with you about this and that. And the food... it was just perfect!

The beach might not have been as perfect as the one we found on Viwa island... but besides from that everything was great and we can only thank everyone that recommended this place to us!

This was our first visit to Fiji... but not the last, we will definately be back!!
